About Us

Mike Howson has been a life-long cyclist and cycle sport enthusiast, having competed at club-level since the 1960’s.

In parallel with Mike’s membership of Kent Valley Road Club, he established Lakeland Cycles in 1969.

Originally based in Kendal, the business has always specialized in offering quality lightweight cycles and components to cycling enthusiasts both locally and across the country.

Mike continued to compete successfully both at club-level and at national-level. Mike also had good successes on the Continental racing scene notably on Majorca and at events in Ghent in Belgium.

The business continued to develop successfully, and in 1987 it was decided to get back closer to the original ethos of the business, when it was decided to move from Kendal to the present location in Bolton-le-Sands.

Mike is assisted by a keen and enthusiastic team — all keen and knowledgeable cyclists with decades of experience to draw upon.

Mike continues with his involvement in the local cycling scene and is currently president of the Kent Valley Road Club.
